The Celestial Earth Presents Research at LivedHeat Symposium 2026 at IIT Delhi
We are pleased to share that our colleagues, Dr. Trina Som and Ms. Jigyasa Gambhir, represented The Celestial Earth at the LivedHeat Symposium 2026, held on 14–15 May 2026 at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.
Their research work titled “Urban Heat Mapping and Cooling Demand Assessment: A Data-Driven Geospatial Modeling Approach for Gurugram” was selected from 66 proposals submitted to the symposium. Organized in collaboration with Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the symposium brought together researchers, practitioners, and experts working in the fields of urban heat, climate resilience, cooling demand, and sustainable urban planning.
The presented work was developed as part of two major projects undertaken by The Celestial Earth: the Climate Action Plan for Gurugram City and the Cooling Action Plan for Gurugram City.
Both projects have been officially launched by the Government of Haryana.
During the symposium, the team showcased the in-house-developed SPIBEAT Pro tool and demonstrated how it was used to develop future cooling scenarios for Gurugram. The study highlighted the impact of passive cooling, active cooling, and integrated interventions on reducing cooling demand, electricity consumption, energy use, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions up to 2050.
The participation provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange and meaningful discussions on urban heat resilience and sustainable cooling pathways for cities. The research work and SPIBEAT Pro tool received appreciation from peers and researchers representing national and international institutions and organizations.
The Celestial Earth remains committed to advancing climate-responsive and sustainable urban development through research, innovation, and collaborative action.
